Dr. Anna Lauer Roy, LPC

Post-Doctoral Fellow
Therapy in English + Spanish

Therapy can support liberation of all kinds. As we work together, we will dive deeply into exploring what mental freedom looks and feels like in your relationships with yourself, others, and the world. To do that, we’ll examine the experiences, traumas, and pain that may have hindered your ability to live as your full, expansive self.

Together, we will practice ways to overcome limiting beliefs and hurtful patterns that keep you feeling stuck. We will dig deep into the aspects of your life that just don’t align with your vision for the life you want and seek out a path forward.

As I get to know you deeply, we will cultivate a warm, evolving, and challenging therapeutic relationship. To know you, I will practice culturally and identity-grounded work that centers liberation and justice. In our work together, you will find validating space to explore all of who you are and how that feels--considering how your race, gender, sexual, sexuality, and central identities shape all aspects of your life.

As your therapist I will learn your perspectives, values, and identity, and cultivate a therapeutic environment where you can show up as your full self. In individual or couples therapy, we will examine how your history, early experiences, traumas, and sense of self impact how you feel in your relationships and within yourself. I believe truly that "if you are breathing, there is a lot more right with you than wrong with you" (Jon Kabat-Zin) and believe our therapeutic work can help you move through confusion towards more peace.

My training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) will enrich our work and help you find space for clarity, connection, and self-expression. I will pull from my background as an Ecopsychology scholar (the study of human’s complex connection to the natural world), to integrate nature-based and holistic interventions as we examine ways to create more well-being for humans and the natural world.

My work as a therapist provides deep meaning, purpose, and focus to my life and I look forward to the work we can do together.  Reach out here to schedule our first conversation. I look forward to talking with you soon.
