Therapist
Under Supervision of Dr. Janelle S. Peifer (PSY004269)

College and Graduate Students: I specialize in working with college and graduate students looking for support as they navigate the stressful world of academia. With experience in working for a college counseling center, as well as over 4 years of experience in working for residence life and university housing, I have an intimate understanding of the day-to-day experience that comes with navigating college and graduate school. Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, imposter-syndrome, or self-doubt, I am here to help. In utilizing Emotion-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I believe in instituting evidence-based practices that are mindful and accepting of the external and internal stressors that come with college. By accepting the limited time for self-care that students experience, we can work together to create realistic, impactful, and lasting changes that will lighten your load.

Anxiety & Depression: If you are having trouble shaking anxious and depressive thoughts and feelings, I am here to help. I utilize evidence-based practices in the form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy to help you create tangible, long lasting changes. And don’t worry, I won’t tell you to “just breathe” and then call it a day. Of course, we’ll identify helpful and effective coping skills, but we’ll also address root causes that may be contributing to your anxiety and depression in the first place. Together we will explore the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to better understand your experience. In doing so, we will be able to create both short-term and long-term change so that you can learn to tame your anxiety and depression.

Young Adults and Life Transitions: Starting or leaving college? Trying to figure out how to adjust to a new job or a new relationship? Transitions are as exciting as they are hard. And they are inevitable, so why not try to make this transition easier? I specialize in working with teens and young adults who may be struggling with life-transitions and the stressors that come with them. My goal is to get you to a place where you not only feel comfortable and secure in your transition, but that you can even appreciate the beauty of it.

Latinx Clients: I also specialize in working with Latinx clients. As a Latino myself, I know all too well how difficult it can be to not only enter therapy, but to then find a therapist who will affirm and empower your identity. With a keen understanding of the varied intersectional experiences that each person has, I integrate cultural practices with evidence-based interventions so that your therapeutic experience aligns with your values. Whether you are coming in with feelings of imposter syndrome, guilt, loneliness, anxiety, depression, or family concerns, my goal is to offer a therapeutic approach that uses your identity as a tool of empowerment.

Change is hard. But that’s not all it is. It’s also beautiful.

They said that if you did everything you were supposed to do, like work hard, or go to college, or get a job, that you’d be happy. And maybe you even achieved your goals! Maybe you are where you thought you wanted to be. But for some reason, as you look around, maybe you think to yourself…this kind of sucks. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. You’re not supposed to feel so stressed, overwhelmed, sad, anxious, guilty, and doubtful. They always said life was hard, but they didn’t say it could feel this heavy. I get it. That’s why I’m here to help.

Life is scary; therapy doesn't have to be. Together we can experience the beauty of change.

As a therapist, I believe in utilizing evidence-based practices that align with your values so that you feel like therapy is actually working for who you are as a person. I also am committed to making sure that you and your cultural experiences are not only affirmed, but empowered so that you can grow into your most authentic self.

To become the person you want to be, sometimes all you need to do is take the next step. When you reach out to me, I’ll be here to walk with you on your journey. I look forward to hearing from you.
